My social media plan is to build my online personal brand through the techniques learned throughout the semester. Specifically focusing on the cross referenced linking of my blog, twitter, facebook, and youtube. i hopefully will implement these strategies to create a career in sports journalism.
So Jason Garrett gives a breath of fresh air to this stagnant group of undisciplined ‘talented’ Dallas Cowboys. It is great to see my team play at anything resembling their so-called potential, but it begs the question. Do these ‘adult’ millionaires rely this much on outside motivation to do a very well paid job that the majority of people would die to do? If that is the case i want our next coach to be a marine drill sergeant and mini camp needs to be boot camp! Closed to the media practices and regimented work with real consequences for not performing your duties sounds like what a lot of these professional teams could use. Maybe today’s professional athlete needs to be reminded that the real world has consequences when you quit doing your job and a lot of folks that make nowhere near this kind of cash would be shit canned for the kind of lackadaisical performance Cowboys fans have been forced to endure this season.
So hopefully Garrett can light a fire under these guys asses next week like he did this week. Or maybe the rest of the team can take notes from the rookie phenom DEZ BRYANT who plays every play like his life depends on it…..WOW this guy really loves the game and plays like it is a privilege. Keep it up Dez…hope its contagious! GO COWBOYS!!
John, Aaron, Simon, and Tony were an interesting and informative panel to attend. I learned a lot from listening to these professionals speak of their experiences in their field. The techno jargon befuddled me a little but nowhere near what it would’ve been like before this class.
Most relevant to me though was Tony Avila’s one taco success using these new media techniques, yeah the old cliche of its who you know will always come into play, but a good product will broaden the positive base of who you know and the next thing you’ve quadrupled your business!! Seeing the real world results and successes come to fruition from the use of these technologies is what will force those like me who have drug their feet into the technological age to join the party……money talks and begets change. I will be checking out http://gowalla.com/ and others seeking their usefulness for me going forward.
Well if this Cowboys team didn’t look rancid enough now Romo’s out 5-8 weeks with a broken collarbone. Not that at 1-5 there would be much hope with or without our sporadic qb, at least now JJ has an excuse to clean house in the coaching department. Maybe, just maybe Jones will realize we’ve done nothing since he took over as football GM. We’ve squeaked out one playoff win in 15 years with a car salesman running the team, stick to what you know Jerry….business, hire a football GM that knows the game from the inside.
Oh well that’s outta my system now hows the draft looking next year….can we draft a GM???
After years of hoping and betting on mediocrity is Romo as good as it gets??
Watching this Oakland Houston game on Sunday i started to get that feeling that I’ve gotten from the Texans for many years past…. they’re gonna blow it! If you have watched the Texans play you know they haven’t been able to finish in the past, and as the Raiders made a push in the 2nd half it started to feel that way again. This team didn’t let that happen, leadership and desire took over and the better team that wanted it more got the V, and that team is finally starting to be the Texans. Now I know it’s just the lowly Raiders, the leagues punching bag the last few years, but that is what solid teams do they finish against the opponents they should beat and get those ever important early season wins that will count so dearly come the end of the season for what Houston fans hope will be a playoff run. If Arian ‘nation’ Foster keeps running like a beast these guys could get deep int the playoffs…..how awesome would it be to have an all Texas Superbowl in Cowboys stadium.
Very interesting video. From Napster to Facebook these guys represent the epitome of the American dream, self-made and wildly successful self starters that changed the world and are major players in the world today, maybe not Fanning the Napster guy though, looks like he might still be working at the music store. Nah, hopefully he owns it. These geniuses like most didn’t fit the typical profile of successful folks and therefore changed the definition of how to achieve it. They have paved the way for any one with a lap top or smart phone and a good idea to topple the infrastructures of old money, and if that isn’t frontierism what is? I would love to come up with a great idea and get rich like these guys as long as I NEVER make video about it in which my new porche is in every other damn shot…..what a head bobbing toolbox!
“The Big Game Finder” My app would be to aid hunters in tracking wounded game. Of course the phone couldn’t find it for you but could help organize and simplify the search while educating the hunter on tracking tendencies for a particular species of animal. Using the gps, caliber of weapon, shot range, hit local, a grid like process of elimination for area covered, and databases with knowledge of the capabilities and likely behaviors of that animal this could help the hunter not only retain his trophy but, most importantly, not waste the sustenance it will provide. There is no worse feeling for the wild game enthusiast or the starving country boy than losing a wounded animals trail. In joint with traditional methods of tracking this app could be awesome.
I am not sure if the iPhone currently has these capabilities (never really messed with one) but maybe one day our phones could even smell a trail!
Oh it has been a long time coming. What 4-5 years I’ve been waiting to get the taste of 19/10 outta my mouth, nothing stings worse than losing that interstate rivalry(especially in Texas!) and I remember that last one like it was yesterday.
The great thing is, that sting can now fade and for at the very least this week and a bye I can feel good about the utter shillacking my BOY’S put on those ole’ Texans. And the trash talking amongst friends in the great lone star state can commence for another 1/2 a decade, hope they can handle it.
If you read my non money bets… post you will know I’m going shopping for the biggest pink #9 sticker available to plaster on my big-mouthed neighbors diesel truck! HA HA HA HA HA! Can’t wait, nothing is more challenging and yet oh so satisfying as shutting people from Houston the hell up. BTW “the neighbor” conveniently disappeared with his girl to watch the game with ‘other friends’ aka non cowboy fans, when it came down to the actual game day, guess he was only good for running his mouth for the last 4 months and not when it mattered. No worries though he’ll get his, and trust me his other blustering bets weren’t so non-money.
Now it’s Monday and I still will root for all Texas sports teams including the Texans and we’ll still be friends with “the neighbor”. At least we better be, he’s supposed to help me move this week. GO COWBOYS!!! Txroyce out.
Checking out these interactive panels for this years sxsw is pretty interesting a lot of them caught my attention. These are a few.
The Art of Enchantment sounds good because, now a days especially, people are starting from nothing with minimal capital and the techniques they are covering seem to be geared towards that. I am curious what exactly they mean by “enchantment”.
27 Fun Ways to Kill Your Online Community caught my eye cause it just sounded funny initially, and after reading the description I’m sure it will be. The reverse approach to building it up will probably lead to great examples how not to break it down.
Bloggers vs. Journalists: It’s a Psychological Thing would be a really interesting one for me. They want to bridge the gap between the two more quickly than it has been happening for the obvious reasons that it would benefit both bloggers and journalists, these reasons I am curious to hear as well.
